Just three games in Newcastle and Hunter rugby, because of wet weather, with Maitland upsetting Beaches, the Bay scored its second win, while Hamilton beat the Roos.
The game looked like it had gone to the dogs early, but the Hawks were soon flying, Dudley Parsons putting them in front.
Hamilton doubled its advantage when Eric Vasukicakau blasted through the Lake’s defence.
The Roos went down a man when Junior Stowers earned a yellow card for this.
The defending premiers took advantage, as Nick Boyd extended the Hawks lead.
