A teenager filmed hitching a ride on the back of a bus in Newcastle has been charged.
A motorist filmed the 15-year-old travelling along the Pacific Highway at Newcastle on the weekend.
At about 9.10pm last night police received reports of two youths riding on the back of another bus.
Police arrested the pair and allege he had a set of house keys and a diamond ring valued at $4,400 in his possession.
Police believe the items came from a home in Jamieson Street, Gateshead that had been broken into earlier in the day.
He’s been charged with a string of offences including break and enter and travel on portion of bus not for passengers.
He’ll appear before Broadmeadow Children’s Court this morning.
The second boy, a 14-year-old, has been given a caution.
