NEWCASTLE UNI PROFESSOR FIRST AUSTRALIAN TO WIN PRESTIGIOUS AWARD
The University of Newcastle’s Emeritus Professor Terry Wall has been awarded the esteemed Percy Nicholls Award for Notable Scientific or Practical Contributions in the Field of Solid Fuels.
It’s the first time an Australian has received the award.
Professor Wall proudly accepted the award, but said his greatest achievement is assisting students.
“My greatest pride would be in helping students complete successful PhDs. I’ve supervised more than 50 PhD students. I have also enjoyed establishing and maintaining the University of Newcastle as a centre of excellence in coal usage…”, he said.
His current research group activities centre on technologies for carbon capture and storage, pulverised coal injection to blast furnaces and controlling emissions from coal use.
