A $100,000 grant in today’s state budget will ensure the cash strapped Nambucca Valley Youth Services Centre remains open.
But even before today’s announcement, news of the centre’s financial struggle to continue its youth support work prompted an anonymous donation of $50,000.
“This anonymous donor has really done some wonderful things and of course with the state government grant, it’s just put the icing on the cake,” said Youth Worker Chris Hewgill.
The youth centre will now be able to stay open for at least another two years.
Another youth service, Beyond Empathy at Bowraville also received $100,000 from the government.
