A man has suffered a chemical burn at Orica’s Kooragang Island plant in Newcastle.
Ambulance paramedics and New South Wales Fire and Rescue were called to the scene shortly before nine last night.
The 38-year-old Maitland man had been burnt by ammonia vapour during a routine start-up procedure.
He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment and is in a stable condition.
