TAXI DRIVER ROBBED AT KNIFE POINT

A taxi driver was robbed in the Newcastle suburb, The Hill overnight.

Around 9.40pm the taxi was dispatched to Nesca parade but on arrival the driver was unable to locate his fare.

A short time later he noticed a male standing on nearby Nickson Street and pulled over.

An offender, thought to be aged about 17, sat in the front passenger seat and threatened the driver with a kitchen knife.

Two other males, also thought to be teens and wearing balaclavas and armed with pocket knives, sat in the back of the taxi.

The driver was robbed of his cash and keys and the trio made off into nearby Nesca Park.
