Still with the Nationals pre-selection, and defeated nominee Jock Laurie says he has no regrets, despite stepping down from his role as National Farmers’ Federation president to run.
But today’s loss does signal the end of his foray into politics.
“I always thought I’d give it one shot, and then that’s it put your hand up and get in and get out. I’ve given it a shot, people have been saying that I’m too old to get into it, we’ll that’s fine, that’s a decision that’s made.”
Mr Laurie says he’ll meet with the state government next week to determine whether he’ll stay on as the New South Wales Land and Water Commissioner.
