WEATHER UPDATE: EAST COAST LOW

The east coast low will pass the Hunter coast overnight.

Southerly winds will strengthen quickly when they shift from the SW to the SE. The peak winds along the coast will be up to 90 possibly reaching 100km/h.

Swell will rise dramatically causing extensive coastal erosion on Saturday.
Off shore boating is not recommended at all. Boating on protect waterways such as Lake Macquarie also not recommended. Tie down any loose or flimsy items in back yards would also be wise before going to bed tonight.
Heavy squally showers will begin to run along the coastal fringe from Gosford to Sea Rocks from this evening before spreading further north to the MNC in the morning.

The Upper Hunter will also feel the affects of the low but conditions shouldn’t be as severe.
Conditions will calm quickly by Sunday. But the large swell will continue as the low pulls away from the coast.
