LOCAL NURSES TAKE ACTION

The award governing the pay of nurses and midwives is set to come under review by the state government in July.

Members of the New South Wales Nurses and Midwives Association met in Tamworth today, to discuss their campaign for an annual pay increase of 2.5 percent over the next two years.

Staff to patient ratios in regional areas was also heavily talked about.

“Well the most important thing is recognition is a recognition that we need to have ratios in rural and regional areas in every part of every hospital, every facility right across the state.”

The union is hoping to have a response from the State Government within the next couple of months.
