RETIRED PRIEST CHARGED WITH MORE THAN 2 DOZEN OFFENCES

Retired priest Francis William Cable fronted Newcastle Local Court today, charged with more than two dozen offences.

Detectives from Hunter-based Strike Force Georgiana arrested Cable at his Canberra home last month.

The 80-year-old is accused of the alleged indecent assault of two students while working at a Marist college in the Hunter in the 1960s and 70s.

He’s due back in court in March.
