A 55 year old woman has died of multiple injuries after being struck by a car at Lismore Heights this morning.
It’s believed the victim was walking east along Donnans Road when she was hit by a man driving a ute in the same direction.
Police are investigating whether the driver may have been temporarily blinded by the sun at the time of the collision.
“This unfortunate incident is a timely reminder, especially coming up to the festive season to drive to the conditions of the roadway, particularly those people taking long journeys.”

Part of the problem with Donnans Road is that there is nowhere to walk but on the road in many instances and there are blind spots. Also if two cars are coming from opposite directions and a pedestrian is on the road it can be very dangerous – I have experienced it from both sides – being a driver and a walker
