SPECIAL OLYMPICS TRIBUTE FOR SLAIN POLICE OFFICER

A special tribute will be held for slain police officer Inspector Bryson Anderson in Newcastle this morning as the Special Olympics torch reaches the city.

Inspector Anderson carried the “Flame of Hope” torch for the Special Olympics yesterday morning in Sydney before he was tragically killed while responding to a domestic dispute yesterday afternoon.

Special Olympics athletes from across the country will pay their respects at the final torch leg at Newcastle’s Civic Park this morning.

Inspector Anderson will also be remembered at tonight’s opening ceremony for the Junior Games at Newcastle Basketball stadium.
