MAN CHARGED WITH MURDERING OFFICER DAVID RIXON PLEADS NOT GUILTY

The man charged with murdering Tamworth highway patrol officer David Rixon has pleaded not guilty in the New South Wales Supreme Court.

Senior Constable Rixon died after he was shot in the stomach and chest during a routine traffic stop on March 2 in West Tamworth.

48-year-old Michael Alan Jacobs’ defence argued that an ‘unknown person’ was also at the scene of the shooting.

Jacobs will now face trial in Sydney from June 3 next year.

Sharon Strudwick, who’s accused of hindering the discovery of evidence in relation to Rixon’s murder, will appear before Tamworth Local Court in February.
