Far North Coast beaches could close in coming days, as a large bloom of pink algae heads up the coast.
It was first spotted floating three to four kilometres out from Yamba last week..

Pink algae contains higher toxicity than the red slime that affected Sydney beaches last week.
Byron Bay was forced to close it’s beaches eight years ago when a similar algal bloom reached the coast.
