MICHAEL BOOTH HEADS HOME FOR THIRD ANNUAL GOLDIE CLASSIC

Former Redhead ironman Michael Booth is looking to become the first athlete from the Hunter to win the Goldie Classic ironman race.
Booth was back on familiar sand this morning, confident his local knowledge will give him an edge, even though he’s never competed in the event before.
“Growing up in Newcastle and training at Redhead, in the channel, 16 footers, at Pelican, I know all the water and I know the race pretty well.”
Organisers are confident conditions will improve by Sunday, ensuring the race can showcase all it has to offer.
“When someone like Ali Day turns around and wins the Coolangatta Gold … probably gives it a little bit more presence.”
