After six years of service on the Northern Rivers, Lawyers at Lismore’s Environmental Defenders Office, fear they may be forced to shut up shop.
The state government is yet to commit critical funding for the service, meaning it could run out of money by the end of March next year.
“At the moment we are already experiencing a funding cut so our funding has been reduced significantly from the 31st of December to the 31st of march already.”
The service provides free legal advice to the public on environmental matters.
