Traffic is still heavy with delays to be expected after a fatal accident on the Pacific Highway, just south of Karuah.
Police say that around 5am, a driver rolled his car on the highway. The driver got out of the vehicle but was then hit by another car and died at the scene.
That car stopped but was then hit from behind by another vehicle.
Two people have been taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
