MEREWETHER CRUSHES LAKE MACQUARIE TO BOOK NHRU GRAND FINAL BERTH

Merewether has set up a grand final rematch with Hamilton in Newcastle and Hunter rugby, after the Greens ended Lake Macquarie’s dream run in the finals in emphatic style.
Sam Clifton set up Billy Coffey for the first try.
Clifton then unleashed his devastating step to good effect, linking with Darby O’Leary and Lewis Dunn who grabbed Merewether’s second.
Nothing was going right for the Roos, Dan Kevill levelling Dave Alo.
Dunn then turned provider, starting a move inside his own half, before linking with Clifton, who ran 40 metres to increase the Greens’ lead.
Even the Hulk was green with envy as Sam Bright set up Dunn under the posts, as Carlton finished worthy winners, 46 to eight.
