DRIVER KILLED IN PACIFIC HIGHWAY HEAD ON

A 67-year-old man died in a crash near Taree early this morning.

Police were called to Henry Hawk Eye Bridge at Dumaresq Island on the Pacific Highway where a southbound Holden sedan had collided head on with a truck.

The 67-year-old was trapped in his car and died at the scene. The truck driver wasn’t injured.

Northbound lanes of the highway were closed as police investigated the cause of the crash.
