Maitland City Council has been told it can’t proceed with a planned tree lopping program to help reduce a large grey-headed flying fox colony at Lorn.
An ecologist surveyed the colony and has advised council that the creatures are about to begin their birthing season.
“Tree clearing and lopping at this time would result in an unacceptable level of stress and pose an unnecessary threat to the species.”
