MURDER OF NEWCASTLE GROCER FRANK NEWBERY STILL A MYSTERY

An inquest has failed to shed any light on the murder of an elderly Newcastle grocer.

Deputy State Coroner Mark Buscombe ruled this morning that, after five and a half years, no one can be identified as a suspect.

Frank Newbery died of a blunt head injury – the 87-year-old was bashed in his store at Cooks Hill on the 12th of March, 2007.

Witnesses have provided descriptions of two men, but their identities remain a mystery.

A $100,000 reward for information still stands.
