RURAL FIRE SERVICE HUB OPEN DAY

A fire yesterday afternoon on the north coast has shown just how valuable the new RFS hub centre will be to the region.

It opened today in Casino.

It may have taken four years but the new Rural Fire Service Centre is open and ready to go.

And it’s already been put to work – yesterday firies were sent to a blaze in Casino.

“Our new centre we were able to have resources here we had aircraft here on the ground and we had resources here ready to roll at the time the request came through.

The state of the art facility is now fully operational and will help volunteers provide ongoing support in the region.

“What you see here is a state of the art multi-million dollar facility that will not only co-ordinate major bush fires but also be a hub for the brigades and volunteers and the broader community right across the northern rivers zone.”

  1. It’s great the RFS has a new “hub” however it would be also great if NBN reported properly on the grass fire in Casino. By the time the RFS managed to get there NSW Fire Brigade in Casino had the fire under control.

The volunteers do a great job, SO DO FIRE & RESCUE RETAINED Fire Fighters who are NOT fulltime fire fighters – sure they get paid, maybe you should ask how much because I know it’s not much.

The RFS “powers to be” have such an issue with being in CONTROL that they would rather see people’s lives and homes at risk by turning out their own brigades before NSW Fire Brigade who may only be 10 minutes away. I know people in the RFS and I know a couple of the town brigade fire fighters. It’s not the volutneers in the RFS that are the problem, they can only go to what and when they are responded and as I said, do a great job just as the Casino Brigade fire fighters do. It’s the salaried staff at the RFS who want to make out that the RFS are faultless and claim the hero status and that’s why they very rarely ever acknowledge the good work that the other services do.
