WEATHER UPDATE: END OF SEASON ROLLER COASTER

We’re currently experiencing the first sign that a change of season isn’t far off.

A burst of warm air is getting pushed across the broadcast region with areas around Grafton headed for top temperatures in the mid to high 20s during Thursday.

Most locations will be above average with cloud increasing across the Hunter during the day.

The high cloud will become mid level cloud and that will signal an end to the Spring like weather.

Another strong blast of cold polar air is ready to steal back the cold below average temps that have plagued much of August.

That strong change will whip through Friday pushing north reaching SE QLD on Saturday morning.

There wont be much rain in it, mostly showers and we should some storm cells develop with that change. The weekend will be much colder with strong south westerly winds settling quickly on Sunday as the low gets pushed away by a large high over the country.

This system will produce more high quality snow for the resorts and deliver a new pulse of swell for surfers. Farmers won’t be happy with the return of more severe frosts into early next week.
