A cyclist has died after being hit by a car then falling from a rail overpass at Tarro in the Hunter Valley.
The man in his 50s was riding west, on the New England Highway around 5.00pm, when he was struck by a vehicle travelling in the same direction. The rider was flung over a guardrail, landing on the rail corridor below.
Traffic backed up for kilometres as the man’s body was recovered and investigations into the collision got underway.
