FINAL BID TO STOP LENNOX LAND SALE QUASHED

A final attempt to stop a controversial sale of community land at Lennox Lead has been quashed at a Ballina Council meeting today.

Jeff Johnson called on his fellow councillors to withdraw an offer to sell over 1,000 square metres of land on Ross Street to the State Government, saying it’s needed for the future amenity of the area.

However his motion was voted down seven – three.

“There were large numbers in the meeting today against the sale, there was a petition with over 1000 signatures, all of the community groups, councillors turned their back on that public opinion”

The State Government is expected to use the land to expand the Lennox Head caravan park.
