CLUNES SPEED CAMERA TO RE-ISSUE FINES

The fixed speed camera at Clunes will soon begin re-issuing fines under a new three-strikes system, introduced by the state government.

The policy means repeat offenders will receive an infringement notice on their third offence.

For the past 10 months, those caught speeding were only issued warning letters.

“It’s probably a step in the right direction apart from just getting a warning letter, but I still believe if you’re speeding you’re speeding, and why shouldn’t you get fined.”

Those travelling more than 30 kilometres over the speed limit, will automatically be sent a court attendance notice.
