Coffs Harbour doctors are accusing both levels of government of playing political football with people’s lives.
The ‘Doctors for a Safer Highway’ group fears the Pacific Highway upgrade won’t be finished by the 2016 deadline if both governments keep fighting over funding.
“We can’t see this all now go back on the back-burner again and see more people suffer, more families lose their loved ones. It’s unacceptable.”
The Federal Government is tipped to announce $3.5-billion for the highway in tomorrow night’s budget, and it’s calling on the state to match that figure dollar-for-dollar.
