Newcastle City Council has approved the installation of 75 new parking meters in Newcastle’s West.
Starting from May 14, the meters will run 7 days a week, from 9am to 5pm.
It’s expected to net council around $430,000 in the 2012/13 financial year.
Additionally, as of July 1, existing parking meters west of Darby Street will operate on weekends.
Council says the changes will help relieve parking congestion for nearby businesses.
The new parking rules will mean thousands of people who visit National Park for netball and soccer games will have to pay for parking.
