DRAMATIC RESCUE NEAR SCOTTS HEAD

A 60-year old woman is lucky to have escaped serious injury, after a regular bush walk went wrong near Coffs Harbour this morning.

The well-known local adventurer was walking on tracks around Scotts Head when she slipped, rolling into the bushes.

Her son who was with her at the time, raised the alarm shortly after 10am.

The Westpac Helicopter was then despatched from Lismore, staging a dramatic rescue on the headland just south of Scotts Head.

She was winched to safety, and taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital with a suspected broken ankle.
