KOALA HOSPITAL TO OPENS ITS DOORS
Port Macquarie’s koala hospital is opening its doors to the public this weekend in an effort to raise awareness about its life-saving work.
The volunteer-run facility cares for sick and injured koalas with the aim of releasing them back into their natural habitat.
On average, the hospital treats around 250 koalas a year, many of whom have been hit by cars or attacked by dogs.
The open day is also a major fundraiser for the hospital which doesn’t receive government funding.
Activities kick off at nine-o’clock on Saturday morning.
