DECISION SOON ON AIRPORT UPGRADE
Port Macquarie’s proposed airport upgrade will go before the Joint Regional Planning Panel next week.
The panel will determine a council application for the first stage of the $25-million upgrade, which will allow the airport to cater for larger jet aircraft.
The initial $6-million project will include work on the main runway and its turning apron, expansion of the passenger terminal and increased car parking.
A section of Tuffins Lane will also be permanently closed to provide a safety area at the end of the runway.
The planning panel will meet on Wednesday at the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council chambers.
