TEENAGERS PRAISED IN TOURIST RESCUE

Two teenage boys have been praised for their assistance in the rescue of a 22-year-old overseas tourist, who fell and broke an ankle on a coastal cliff at Newcastle overnight.

The boys who noticed the man was in difficulty and trapped on a ledge, raised the alarm and stayed by the man as specialist police, ambulance and rescue crews mobilised a difficult 5 hour rescue operation.
Paramedics abseiled down to the trio, then lowered them to a rockshelf below Shepherds Hill at Bar Beach. All were then airlifted to safety by the Westpac rescue helicopter.
