The RSPCA is appealing for information after a violent attack on a three month old puppy.
The animal was discovered when council workers heard it whimpering in the back of a garbage truck on Thursday morning at the Woodenbong tip.
Vets are caring for the distraught puppy which has been blinded by its severe head injuries and may have suffered brain damage.
If anyone has any information they should contact the RSPCA.
