SAVE OUR FIGS AND COUNCIL BACK IN COURT

Save Our Figs and Newcastle Council were back in the Land and Environment Court today, as the lobby group pushes for an interim injunction order.

The judge asked for time to consider the move, which would stop council bringing in the chainsaws prior to a possible December hearing.

That hearing would debate the legality of a failed council motion to get the state government to intervene.

If the judge rules against the interim injunction, council will be able to start removing the Laman Street trees from 5pm on the day of his decision.
