TEEN CAUGHT AFTER HIGH SPEED CHASE AFTER RUNNING OUT OF FUEL

A Lismore teenager has a date with the courts after allegedly leading police on a high speed chase through Casino yesterday morning,

Police say the 18 year old failed to stop for a Random Breath Test and reached speeds of 140 kilometres an hour in a 50 zone.

“That vehicle was pursued for 13 kilometres towards Lismore on the Bruxner highway where it ran out of fuel and the 18 year old male driver was detained”.

The incident took place during Operation Drink Drive Two which wrapped up last night.

In the Richmond Tweed commands, police conducted over 2600 random breath tests and charged 25 for being over the limit.

Police say the number is above average for the region.
