Meanwhile, the Labor Party has announced its candidate for the by-election in the state seat of Clarence.
Yamba resident and former Daily Examiner editor, Peter Ellem, will stand at the election which is expected to be held next month.
Mr Ellem says he’ll fight the election on jobs and electricity prices.
The National Party is yet to announce its candidate.
