COFFS COUNCIL POWERS UP

Coffs Harbour Council’s Rigby House solar power system has exceeded all expectations, producing more electricity than predicted.

The roof-top installation of 650 photvoltaic panels was expected to generate 180 megawatt hours per year.

That target has been met in the first 10 months, and the council is now predicting it will be taking 280 tonnes of equivalent CO2 out of the atmosphere each year.

The savings gained by fitting the panels and by undertaking other energy efficiences will net the council $30,000 a year.
