  1. Metgasco tells people not to seek information from groups with an agenda to push because they will get misinformation! How hypocritical. Metgasco – we believe you are the one with an agenda to push – to get your pipeline through our region.

If you did not have a vested interest, you would tell our Scenic Rim farmers how your pipeline will open our area to gas: lateral feeder pipes will in future connect your pipeline to thousands of gas wells in our area, making it an economic way for Arrow/Bow (which owns all gas permits in Scenic Rim – 70% of our area) to export supplies. On ABC Radio Gold Coast yesterday, you could not say this will not happen.
You would also explain how farm operations will be impacted – I’m told you say you tell your workers not to drive over the pipeline- so how will a farmer work his land? Should you also not be telling land holders about the erosion risk? Our country is blacksoil and clay – including yellow clay which is highly prone to erosion. The border area is known serious landslip country. The Lion’s road, which you plan to use, was closed for weeks earlier this year as a result of landslip.
When you drew your plans, did you drive the route to see the dozens of creek crossings or the impact your 30m wide corridor will have on farmland and forest country?
Yes, we have a vested interest – to protect our region, our farmland and our communities: at least we’re honest about it.

  2. The gas mining companies appear to be performing a sleight of hand by attempting to concentrate the argument on gas being a much more carbon emission friendly alternative to burning coal.
I heard an interview on PM Thursday 18/8/11 where the mining spokesman just kept talking about not understanding why there was opposition to their law abiding industry, given the fact that its going to lower our carbon emissions.
He completely sidestepped the very real concern of everyone that has their eyes open, that their extraction process is odds on to contaminate groundwater during and well after they have temporarily abated their insatiable hunger for profit. They regard this as more important than allowing people to have access to the true elixir of life … CLEAN WATER.
