HISTORIC RAIL CARS VISIT NORTH COAST

Around 100 rail enthusiasts on the mid north coast got the chance to experience the glory days of rail travel today when a historic rail motor made the trip from Taree to Coffs Harbour.

The three carriage set is owned and operated by the Rail Motor Society at Paterson in the Hunter Valley.

The ‘Tin Hares ‘ as they are referred to by railway staff were constructed in the 1920s and used to service branch lines across the state.

They were retired from service in 1984 and are regarded as the best preserved rolling stock in New South Wales.
