Meanwhile, Member for Hunter, Joel Fitzgibbon, says Labor will take a regional focus in the lead-up to the federal election, following boundary changes.
“What happens in Newcastle matters up in Muswellbrook and vice versa. So I’d welcome more regional debate and Labor is very strong, there previously were 5 seats, we hold four of them but there’ll be four and I’m very confident we can hold Paterson and therefore hold all four”, says Mr Fitzgibbon.
Mr Fitzgibbon will run for the new-look Hunter seat – the Coalition is yet to announce its candidate.
