That ‘s my new grandson Lauchlan. I am disgusted with the whole incident that they could do this to a new born and now to find out that they have done it again, I think there should be a open inquiry to the whole matter, We could of lost a precious gift, it’s bad enough that we are dealing with Logan’s brain tumor and now this, some thing must be done and done quickly so it never happens again to any child any where.
I really feel for the whole family, they have been through enough and the last thing they need is a major error by the health system to put them through more stress. I’m very concerned with the procedures that were carried out and the fact it could have proved fatal for little Lauchlan.
I believe the staff need to renew their protocol regulations and check things off more than once before going ahead with the procedure before it happens again.

That is well and truly a poor and outright disgusting effort from our “supposed” health system! How can an error like this be made?! And specially to mix up adult and newborn medication. They should not be classed as a “Health System” as there is no “health” about what has happened and obviously no “system” in place to prevent such an error! Specially for someone to have written “Hep B” immunisation and then place an “Influenza Vaccine” sticker on the same line is just not acceptable and people should be dis-missed and stripped of their qualifications! Even that is not enough for the stress they have put the families through after would could have been a fatal error. Where is our money going?! Maybe they should build a pre-school for those that can’t figure out their left from their right. What an awful welcome for someone to receive when coming into this world!

How did this even happen? Why didn’t the nurse have the injection double checked (as is protocol)? Why was there an adult vaccine in the neonate section? Why didn’t they notice when they stuck the sticker in the vaccine register instead of 6 hour later?
As a nurse I’m disappointed. Errors happen. But for this to occur isn’t just one error or one person. Its a comedy of errors and the incident could have been prevented at so many ifferent points or at least picked up sooner.
I hope the families involved suffer no longterm effects of this incident.
