CONTROVERSIAL CATHO DEVELOPMENT APPROVED

The State Planning Assessment Commission has granted approvals for two long-contested development applications south of Newcastle.
A 556 lot housing development proposal by the Rose Group, for Catherine Hill Bay has been deemed to conform to State planning policies with strict conditions.

The approval has taken into consideration visual and heritage concerns around the existing village and allows for public space as well as bushland buffers.

Approval has also been granted for a residential sub division at Gwandalan on nearby Lake Macquarie.

  1. A successful outcome for the real locals who have watched their community suffer a slow and sad decline. We now feel that there is a future for Catherine Hill Bay. The heritage of the ‘Bay’ was a community full of permanent residents who lived and worked together to make the Bay what it was up to 15 years ago not the selfish investors who have not considered the loss of infrastructure due to their investment properties only taking from this great community and never giving anything in return.
This is a great outcome for those residents who have lived here for 80+ years (their entire lives) who can see a future for their lovely community.
