Here’s a dog tale with an interesting ending.
A 59-year-old Port Macquarie man was taking his dog for an early morning walk near a local boat ramp.
When the duo returned to the car park the owner called Chester, the King Charles Spaniel, to jump back into the car.
Instead of landing on the man’s lap, Chester landed on the accelerator, sending the 2004 model Audi sedan into the Hastings River.
Both owner and pooch made it out through the car’s window, but the vehicle had to be salvaged from the riverbed.
