A crime scene has been set up by police, after a body was discovered in a burnt-out car on the New South Wales north coast.
Fire crews made the discovery around 9am Friday after being called to reports of a car alight at Iluka Beach, north of Yamba.
The badly burned body was located in the backseat of the charred vehicle.
Police say they’re still trying to work out the circumstances surrounding the death, and are yet to identify the body.
