MAN KILLED IN BELMONT SMASH

Family and friends today paid their respects to Chris Baxter who died when his car crashed into a power pole at Belmont last night.

The 26 year old lost control on a bend in Evans Street, with his car coming to a stop more than 100 metres down the road.

Two other men in the car escaped with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say speed was a factor.

Residents say little could be done to save the driver.

“When police arrived they were actually looking for another body they thought missing – the driver. In actual fact the guy in the back seat was the driver. So he’d been pushed back because of teh force? Yeah the force. The car was just mangled.”

  1. why are cars manufactured to go faster then the actual speed limits? sensles!!
    ..R.I.P. Chris,you’ll be sadly missed

  2. The speed limit on that road is 50km/h!

Vehicle manufactures cannot be blamed for people driving cars faster than posted speed limits.

There is no one else to blame but the person behind the wheel of these unfortunate, deadly accidents.

    R.I.P. Chris.
