A 46-year-old man is in a stable condition in John Hunter Hospital, after suffering multiple stab wounds during an altercation in the Newcastle suburb of Hamilton South.
Police were called to the department of housing complex in Neill Terrace, just after midday and began searching for a man who witnesses say stabbed another man several times with a short-bladed knife.
A search of the area led to an arrest a short time later.
Paramedics stemmed the injured man’s bleeding before taking him to the John Hunter Hospital with wounds to the thigh, chest and arm.
