MINOR FLOOD WARNING FOR HUNTER RIVER

The Bureau of Meteorology has advised that the Hunter River is currently approaching a peak at Greta. Minor flooding is expected later tonight at Maitland.

Predicted River Heights/Flows:

Maitland (Belmore Bridge) – Peak near 8.0 metres AHD, around midnight [6/12/10] with minor flooding.
The likely consequences of this are that low-lying rural areas may be flooded and rural roads may close. These are likely to include:
4.9 metres: Stanhope Road at Kilfoyles Bridge will close between Luskintyre Road and Lambs Valley Road. An alternate route is available via Branxton and Stanhope.
Windermere Road at Lochinvar Creek will close causing isolation of a small number of homes at Windermere.
7.2 metres: Brush Farm Road at Pitnacree (East Maitland) may close.
8.0 metres: Rural land from Pitnacree Road (East Maitland) to Porters Hollow may be inundated causing Pitnacree Road to close approximately 1.5 kms from the Melbourne Street intersection. This will result in the isolation of a number of houses.
Water may be over Stanhope Road at Lambs Valley Creek, Lambs Valley. If this occurs, the community of Lambs Valley may be isolated.
