Emergency services descended on the village of Kendall today, but there were no sirens or flashing lights.
The community centre was the venue for an expo aimed at preparing locals for emergencies.
Among the highlights was a fire-brigade demonstration of what can happen when water is thrown on a kitchen fat fire.
The expo was organised by the Kendall Community Centre and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
