KAYAK DRAMA IN BARRINGTONS

Two Hunter kayakers have survived a frightening ordeal in the fast-flowing Barrington River, near Gloucester.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter, police and search crews were called in when the men were reported missing just after 2pm.
They became separated when one man’s kayak slammed into a fallen tree.

“This tree smashed me kayak in two and I just had to leave it there and get back to Barrington on foot”
Said Peter Clarke.

The pair had been training for the Gloucester Mountain Man event.
Both men were reunited safe and well after making their way to the Barrington General Store.
