AGENCIES MEET TO TACKLE HOMELESSNESS

Today not-for-profit and government agencies came together, to work out just what can be done.

  1. An avid news watcher I was disappointed to learn this meeting took place and I had no clue it was even scheduled. That meeting is newsworthy, Lindsay Lohan getting 2-weeks gaol for being a drunken fool is not!

The 105,000 homeless figure has been bandied about for many years and I would be keen to learn who is counting and what they are counting as it has not changed?

Did you know that housing NSW will only permit the homeless to apply for 28 nights temporary accommodation on a night by night basis, in a filthy drug infested and diseased condemned motel per 12-months. However, if the homeless were anywhere near as fortunate as the asylum seekers all they need to do is float in on a boat and get free board, meals, showers and medicals. There is no more room to help the homeless because our govt has filled them with asylum seekers.

How do I know? I was just like you until the unthinkable happened and I became homeless for 2.5 years. Govt cannot fix the homeless issue’s unless they know what the homeless issue’s are. And, they would also need to be interested in fixing it. The system is incompetent, abusive, inhumane and cruel and is designed to do only one thing; keep the homeless homeless. You have no idea what state and federal agencies put the homeless through and it is outrageous they held a meeting to find out what they can do for the homeless in light of such treatment.

ABS has been alleging there are 105,000 homeless since 2006. So why is there a bloody meeting 4 years later to figure out what to do? I wonder what the asylum seekers thought about it all as they watched it on the tele from the comfort of their motel room whilst Australians sleep on the street! Or in a toilet as was reported in my case on the front page of The Herald. You have a responsibility to report on facts. If you seriously want to make the homeless issue news – then come see me for a warts and all homeless experience that will leave the general public as astounded as I was!
